Abstract - The remains of Desmana radulescui (water mole) has been recovered in the Podari outcrop (Dacic Basin, Dolj dept.). For this section we have determined the magnetic polarity. The examinated fossils (1 M1/, 1C/ and 1I/2) are compared with fossil and modern material from Europe and Asia. A comparative dental analysis specimen led to the conclusion that the Middle Pliocene Desman of the Dacic Basin represents a new species. We call this first described species Desmana radulescui n. sp.
