Abstract - The first fossil documenting of a Paleogene true carnivore in the Transylvanian Depression is assigned to cf. ?Cynodictis. A mandible fragment (with damaged m1-m2 dext.) was recovered at Leghia (Cluj District), from the sandy-marls occurring on the top of the Ciuleni Member, at the contact with Vistea Limestone (Early Priabonian; NP 18). The palaeoenvironmental setting is discussed.
